Lucy Sondo is the founding partner of Abenry Advocates since 2005. She was a Partner with Adept Chambers for 2 years (2010 -2011) and with Mkono & Co Advocates for 9 years. Lucy also worked as State Attorney and Parliamentary Draftsman at the Attorney General’s office for 12 years. She is a holder of a Master’s degree in legislative drafting with an experience of over 35 years. Lucy is an expert in mergers and acquisitions, project finance, capital markets, energy, corporate law in general, drafting transactional documents and legislation and carrying out legal due diligence.

Lucy is an expert in, amongst others, projects & project financing, Public Private Partnerships, Mergers & Acquisitions, capital markets related work and energy related work. She is also an expert carrying out legal due diligence drafting transactional documents and legislation.

Lucy has participated in negotiations and contracting discussions.   She has been advising governments, commercial and investment and commercial banks, insurance companies, broker-dealers asset managers financing securities and derivative markets and drafting and negotiating and appropriate documents.  Lucy has been at the centre of rendering legal advice to both local and foreign investors.  She has been involved in launching various projects which benefited under the Investment Act and have practically obtained investment certificates for various banks, mining companies and other investors in different sectors.

Lucy acted for Eciafrica Consulting (Pty) Ltd. by providing a review of the Banking & Financial Institutions Act and the Bank of Tanzania Act and regulations made thereunder for the purpose of advising and redrafting the regulations in respect of the BOT credit databank in relation to Bank of Tanzania Credit Information Requirements Project, a project funded by the World Bank and supported by Bank of Tanzania (BOT).
